I absolutely LOVE the Overstory -- it's one of my two top favorite books, the other one is Gravity's Rainbow by Thomas Pynchon. I wrote about both: https://jessicarath.substack.com/p/when-books-move-you-to-the-core

What a great read this week Ben, thank you.

May your tree continue to defiantly thrive and your jam and tea warm the cockles of your heart.

"Hug it out" is a great way to live...and it doesn't even need to be human-to-human hugs! And that (cleverly) brings me to trees... I am all for the idea of documenting your tree life. I shall make a point, under your guidance, to photograph your trees during my next visit!

1. Although you went there, it is the truth...and the truth must be spoken!

2. The Overstory is now on my list to help me blow through the darkness of winter.

3. My advice...keep creating, creating, creating. Express your individuality through your creativity - no one can take that away...

This book blew my mind when I read it a few years ago! I’ve since read more of his books - each equally gripping!

😂 ref. that orange person remark !!!! Politics is life.and hard to avoid .... I get the impression that a lot of people have their heads in the sand over what's happening in the USA. However, when a new Tory leader (the worst one could possibly wish for!) stands up and demands to the PM that the orange man be allowed to speak in our UK Parliament, you see straight away where the Brexshit plotters were coming from. Very dangerous (!!!), and I hope that Starmer won't cave in on this one! The 72,00,000 million idiots (no other word) who voted for that man have sealed the fate of this planet. https://youtu.be/vNvVsl5OZ7o?si=hjntkJ5Q9w8SskfA

Nicely put Sara, though I fully expect Starmer to cave as he has done on everything…. He’d much rather be mates with an orange person with lots of billionaire backers than poor Europeans or Africans with principles and a fairly basic knowledge of climate change…. How’s he going to be rich enough to live comfortably in retirement otherwise, give he’s not going to tax said billionaires to prop up the pensions and repair public infrastructure like…. NHS, education, etc…

Im not sure. If he allows Trump to influence the UK like he has done the US he'll be giving Farage the keys to no. 10.
