From Texas and our unimaginable summers, I know okra loves heat. A lot of it. It will grow all summer here and produce if it gets a little bit of water. Not sure how that helps you make a decision but there ya go. Also, pick it constantly because like zucchini, overgrown okra is terrible.
It’s been far too long since I spotted a firefly. I hope they are still around in August.
And yes...get that fire pit in order – it requires much use this summer!
I agree with your sentiments about enjoying the first fruits. We dug up our first potatoes a few weeks ago and simply steamed them—they were incredible with only a dash of fleur de sel.
I have never commented, I just wanted to let Ben know that is almost one year that I read every weekly update. I hope you will continue with your wholesome lifestyle! Cheers from Spain.
I did have bats going crazy as well, but we have those a lot. They were especially active this week though. I was just about to write about them, but then I realised that as they might well have been eating the fireflies, it might have spoilt the magic a little :D
Yep, I thought the same. But as the bats where fluttering way over my head and the fireflies bumbling in the bushes I thought there may be no food-relation at all.
don‘t think it needs a name, nevertheless „intentional joy diving“ would work even though the gratitude fulfilment gets lost and then again if you do a tchittitschittibängbäng word combination it will never meet what it‘s namelessness carries…

Thanks for taking the time to let me know, JD. It is truly appreciated!
I had my first fireflies too at this weekend. Magical little suckers. Combined them with two bats (große Abendsegler) which made the night complete.
