The piggies like getting up early, and so do I.
I feed the piggies, and myself, according to the rise and set of the sun, so where last week they were getting fed at about 7, 7:30, they are breakfasting at more like 6 this week. That’s ok, they go to bed earlier as well.
I have to start being less ambitious with the weekly targets, though. It seems that almost all of my day is taken up with maintenance work - the things that need doing no matter what. Mow, rake, feed everyone. While I know that there is still free food out there for Tony and His Sisters, I have to go and get it. Yesterday, I spent an hour gleaning. A word I would never have come across were it not for Agnes Varda.
Yes, even all those years spent obsessively watching movies have paid off!
My main thing on the list for last week was to dig the holes for the fence posts for the next side of the Pig Field. I was having so much fun, I made the posts themselves, and planted them.
I would like to commit to finishing this fence this week, but seeing as I have to trim, cut and carry over 100 lengths of wood from one end of the barracks to the other, I’m not sure that’s going to happen so, let’s be vague:
This week:
Crack on with the Pig Field fence
Harvest and store sugar beets
Tidy up around the wood shed. It’s a mess
Fix Jacqueline and sweep up leaves from paths
Thin the dead strawberries.
Plant at least some of the trees in pots
I really also should bite the bullet and get that damn chimney fixed.
