It’s the 38th week of the year, the one which features the Autumnal Equinox. The sun is now below the horizon for more of the day than it is above it. Winter is coming, and according to the meteorologists, it’s going to be starting early and lasting a while.
Joy.
Anyway, the job list for this week looks a little like this:
Plant two new fruit trees
Cut the last middle edges in the potager
Chop wood for kindling. A lot of kindling
Glue first layer of insulation in the loft
Thresh oats and peas
Hack up where the oats and the peas were, sow with spinach
Edge the soft fruits
Tidy up strawberries
The exact time of the equinox does have a certain numerical charm to it though:
