I love pigs! Have you tried growing Mangelwurzel? I saw some on Gardeners' World and have just received my seeds (Betterave Fourragère or Beta Vulgaris) and looking forward to seeing what happens! The name alone had me straight away!
I love your film tips. Never watched Au hasard... but heard about it, might be too sad... But I watched Mouchette, also by Bresson, and loved it. Same with Kes, not seen yet, but I loved The Wind that Shakes the Barley. And I agree with Isabelle Huppert. Keep them coming!
I absolutely love Kes. But I can't watch it more than about once a decade. Imagine Billy Elliot, but instead of him achieving his dreams to become a ballet dancer, he gets his house burned down and he dies in a mining accident. Now that I think about it, that doesn't happen in Kes, nor Billy Elliot, but it does happen in Germinal, which is another strong recommendation, and hot contender for "most depressing film evs". It has Gérard Depardieu in it though, which these days makes it a bit of a swerve ..
Oh dear. I added Kes and Germinal to the watchlist, but have to wait until I can handle the top "most depressing" films... But Billy Elliot: maybe time for a re-watch!
Brilliant photos this week Pirate! The one from high up (taken with a drone?) showing the whole growing area is great for giving a sense of scale, and the photo of Tony is just magnificent, innit?! 😉
So conflicted! There is rarely a need to remake a perfect film. The trailer looks mawkish and cringe. Crying donkey. Oh dear. But... it has a massive 96% fresh on rottentomatoes *and* it has Isabelle Huppert, and I'll watch *anything* with Isabelle Huppert in it.

He's the greatest. The up high one is taken from the bathroom of the volunteer suite. I might dust off the drone if I get things weeded this week!
There is this film called EO that I can't make myself watch - I think it might be a redone of Au Hasard Balthazar :(
